In 2019, social media reviews are becoming more important than ever for small to medium size businesses.
Think of it this way, how often do you buy a product from a brand new website or business you’ve never heard of? If your answer is higher than zero, then you’re a lot braver than me!
For the more cautious folk, checking reviews before making a purchase is perfectly normal these days. In fact, recent research revealed that 68% of users will go straight to a business's social media profile to read reviews.
The good news for businesses like us is that 84% of people in the world trust online reviews as much as a personal recommendations, so there’s a lot riding on what you say on the big old world wide web!
Where Facebook reviews outperform other online reviews options like Google is the fact that potential customers can see if the reviewer is a genuine person by checking out their profile. This isn’t always possible with Google business reviews.
The bottom line is, receiving positive and consistent new reviews can help generate more business for us and give you more benefits in the near future. It’s kind of like a ‘you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours kind of deal.
Naturally, leaving poor social media reviews can have a reverse effect on a business like ours too, with a lot of consumers saying that the star rating of a business is the most important factor.
It’s the same principle as when you search for a hotel to stay in for your next getaway. If you see multiple three, two or even one-star reviews next to a hotel or B&B, would you honestly book it without at least conducting some more research into the place?
